Sylvia Nance

April 15, 1950 — February 3, 2026

Sylvia Annette Nance, 75, of Mascot Tn, passed away February 3, 2026 with her daughter by her side, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and a bit of hairspray.

Sylvia is proceeded in death by her parents; Carl and Mary Haynes, siblings; Alvin Haynes  and Linda Lyle, ex husband and friend Carl (Eddie) Nance Jr.

she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Nance and a sister Diane Sherrod.

Sylvia was a retired nurse, but that was only one of many capes she wore. She was an animal whisperer to both wild and domesticated (if she could carry a tune you would have thought she was Snow White). She could soothe a fussy baby better than anyone, all while keeping everyone on thier toes with her quick wittiness.

“The Chronicles of Sylvia and Jennifer” Sylvia was a woman who loved the Lord, makeup and hairspray, while Jennifer’s dad was away as an over the road trucker, Sylvia and Jennifer were the ultimate duo- think “The Judds”, but with more flowing hair. Jennifer was her mothers living “live action doll” yet Sylvia was never to defined to get on the floor play any game or two. She was the best mom and friend to her daughter, and treated her friends as her own. She was a giver to those in need, an advocate for those that needed someone to speak up for them and a friend to anyone that needed one. She was quick witted with a dash of sarcasm best of sense of humor, with a side of mischievous . If you were her people you always had her support, but she would let you know if you were in the wrong pretty quick. She gave her time freely to those she loved no matter how many long hours she worked, if anyone needed to go somewhere or wanted to do something she never said no, just get in the car! We could list many more qualities and capes she wore, but most importantly she loved the Lord and when she prayed you felt like if you peaked you would see him standing there. She lived by the rules  giving is always better than receiving, be good to people and all animals, tithe even when the wallet looks smaller than the bills coming in. Simply enough if you knew Sylvia then you were lucky and our lives were better with her in it.
