Stephen Todd Hastey

Todd Hastey, 49, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025. The eldest of three sons born in November,1975, to Joe and Carol Hensley Hastey, he grew up in Atlanta, GA, where he graduated from Woodward Academy. He attended Wofford College where he played on the football team and forged many lifelong friendships. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and from the Samford University Cumberland School of Law. At the time of his death, he was a Senior Liability Adjuster for Great West Casualty Company.

He adored his daughter, Sarah Kate Hastey, and always shared her achievements, of which he was very proud. As an older brother and friend, he had a penchant for nicknames. He delighted in pushing buttons and testing limits. He provoked his brothers as only a brother can, but he loved them dearly.

As a son, he often teased his parents and challenged them; yet, he always respected and loved them and never took them for granted. He relished his time spent with his niece and three nephews. A keeper of family stories, he had a gift for staying connected and making others feel remembered.

Passionate about college football and basketball, Todd was a lifelong fan of Auburn University whose teams both exhilarated and exasperated him. Nevertheless, he was loyal to the wire, wearing an Auburn shirt at the time of his passing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Hensley Hastey. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Kate Hastey; brothers, Scott Hastey, Jonathan (Allison) Hastey; father, Joe (Cecilia) Hastey; niece, Ellie Hastey; and nephews, Will, Ben and Weston Hastey.

A memorial service will be held on July 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach, Florida. Immediately following this service, family and friends are invited to attend a reception in Jim Thomas Hall, also, at First Presbyterian.
