Patricia Winstead

Patricia Prater-Winstead passed on May 12, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born on March 28, 1959, in Middlesboro, Ky to Sarah Ruth Maiden Taylor and Wilford A. Prater. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents Lena Ruth, Lewis Maiden and Agnes Bernice and Hayes Stokes and beloved sister Debra Lynn Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Carrie and Dave Garcia; sister Wanda and Bill Cochran; Glinda and Mike Murphy; stepmother Tina Hess, stepson James and Chastity Rouse. Grandchildren Roman and Lexi Garcia, Ryan Urban, Christopher Smith, Isabelle Smith, Jeremiah Smith, Aubree Cole, and Wyatt Rouse. She also leaves behind lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends and loved them all.

Trish was a cosmetologist and a truck driver. She loved to read the Bible, sing gospel music, and go to church. She was an artist and very talented and smart. She loved decorating cakes and etching glass.

She was the kind who left a lasting impression on everyone she met and loved children and the elderly. Trish had a quiet strength, a kind heart, and a sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest day. People have often said they felt instantly at ease around her; whether through a listening ear, thoughtful gesture, or simply her warm smile, she made others feel truly seen and cared for and was a steady, comforting presence in a chaotic world.
