“Ascend, may you find no resistance
And know that you’ve made such a difference
And all you leave behind will live to the end”
Michael J. O’Brien, 66. Passed away on October 30th. Michael was born March 22, 1958, to John F. & Dorothy O’Brien of Mound, MN.
He spent his early years in Mound & Minneapolis. Moving to Tennessee, he pursued a career in Information Technology where he met and married his loving wife Stephanie and retired in 2018.
Michael was very passionate about many things. He loved his cats & working in his gardens. He felt very strongly about the music of his youth to present day *meaning only though the early aughts* exception being proud of his son Christopher’s musical talents, cooking and sports, especially his Vikings Football!
Traditions and holidays were a big part of the O’Brien household. Every Spring started with ‘Masters Weekend’ which included a weekend of barbecuing, margaritas and watching golf. These traditions were repeated for the US Open. In between sports celebrations, Michael put a lot of thought and creativity into the traditional holidays by creating Thanksgiving meals that would rival the Norman Rockwell painting, He created amazing holiday menus, to go along with firework displays in summer, & complaints about too much decorating at Christmas, which he knew his wife Stephanie loved, so he played along.
Michael is survived by his wife Stephanie, Son Christopher (Laura) of McMinnville, Grandchildren Cadence, Christopher and Emerson. Brother John (Linda) of Zim, MN and dear friend Kristy Lund with whom he loved to pretend he was always right in their very colorful debates.
The family will hold a remembrance celebration on November 15th from 4-7 at Copper Cellar.
