Larry Edward Cooper, born on April 4, 1973, in Oak Ridge, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, whose warm spirit and kindness touched the lives of many. He passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at Methodist Medical Center. He was 52 years old!
Larry a passion for life that was reflected his favorite past. He enjoyed playing pool, swimming, and dedicating time to rescuing animals, particularly his dog, Rosie. He has deep love for all the animals he rescued, illustrating his compassionate nature. Family gatherings were a highlight for Larry, along with hobbies such as landscaping and painting, which allowed him to express his creativity. Larry attended Solway Baptist church where he was saved in Bible school!
Larry is preceded in death by his Grandmother Nerva Jane Duncan Phillips, his Mother Georgia Ann Phillips Cooper, Brothers Charles Edward "Chuck" Cooper and Michael Eugene Cooper, and Aunts Linda "Tiny" Boggs and Cleo Terry. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew them.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Julie Cooper, along with his stepdaughters Autumn (Chris) Ferguson and Erin Wiffen. Larry was a proud grandfather, affectionately known as Papaw Larry, to his cherished grandchildren Westin, Bristal, and Layne Ferguson. The bond he shared with his grandbabies was profound, and they will carry his love with them always.
Larry is also survived by Aunt Brenda Rains, as well as his brothers and sisters, Margie (James) Goins, Shell Seiber, Carl (Tammy) Cooper, Billy Joe Cooper, Ramona Cooper, and Beth Ann Brown Gaus his niece who was raised up with him and is like his little sister. Additionally, he leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will deeply miss his presence.
A true friend to many from the old neighborhood, Larry had a unique way of connecting with others. He was often described as sweet to his sisters, kind to everyone he met, and always willing to lend a helping hand. His warm greeting of "Hey Buddy" became a familiar phrase that epitomized his approachable and friendly demeanor.
The family will honor Larry's memory with a Celebration of Life at a later date. In his passing, the love and kindness that defined Larry's life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
