Ken always talked about how much he loved owning a Hotdog Stand when he lived in Bradenton and Panama City Beach, Florida for several years.

Kenneth Threatt Worthy, a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on July 2, 2026, surrounded by family who loved him greatly. Ken was born May 10, 1943, in Columbus, Georgia.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents George Byron and Gladys Merle Worthy. Sisters Carol June Worthy and Arlene Worthy. Brother James Byron “Jimmy” and sister-in-law Betty Jean Worthy. Nephew Timothy Scott Worthy.

He is survived by Nieces and Nephews Stacy Arlene Steinke (Steve), Christy Lynn Johnston (Johnny), Jackson Gilbert Worthy, Vicky Thompson (Al), Troy Lee Patterson (Kathy), Bradley “Brad” Paul Patterson, Sr., Robbie “Robin” Ramona LaPorte (Tony). Daughter, Wendy.

Great Niece and Great Nephews Kyrstin Robinson (Andrew), Lake Parker Worthy, Christopher Worthy, Cody Worthy, Chance Worthy, James Dylan LaPorte.

Great-great Nephew Bowen Walker Robinson and Great-great niece Kollyns Rose Robinson.

Along with a host of other friends and family.

He enjoyed the relaxing shorelines of the Gulf of Mexico watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Ken was very proud of his military career as a United States Marine and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a longtime resident in Bradenton and Panama City Beach, Florida, before moving to Biloxi, Mississippi followed by Knoxville, Tennessee to be closer to his niece Stacy Steinke who cared for him, not just in Knoxville, but for many years before when he was living in Panama City Beach, Florida and Biloxi, Mississippi.

After his retirement from the U.S. Marines, Ken always talked about how much he loved owning a Hotdog Stand when he lived in Bradenton and Panama City Beach, Florida for several years. At one time being set at Treasure Island in Panama City Beach as he enjoyed the relaxing shorelines of the Gulf of Mexico watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets. He also enjoyed watching old episodes of Leave It to Beaver, his favorite show. Lovingly known as Uncle Ken not just to family, but to many friends as well. Ken was a Christian with a servant’s heart, always generous and kind wanting to help his family and friends in their times of need never asking for anything in return.

A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at a later time where his final wishes will be honored. Ken said he did not want people to cry for him. Instead, he wanted his family and friends to raise a drink, his favorite beer, as we laugh and share special memories of times together before his ashes are to be spread in the place he loved the most, Gulf of Mexico.
