Obituary

John Davidson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026. Born on March 3, 1948, John was a man whose warmth and vibrant spirit touched all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends.

John, affectionately known as Johnny by those closest to him, was the embodiment of love and laughter. His children fondly recall how their daddy’s hugs could uplift the heaviest of spirits and how his natural gift for humor made it nearly impossible to stay sad or in a bad mood when he was around. He was a cherished jokester, a master storyteller, and an endlessly loving presence whose joy brightened every room.

A man of many passions, John’s heart belonged to the open road and the soothing draw of nature. As a former truck driver, he deeply missed the freedom of the highways, a longing he fulfilled in small ways by connecting with truckers from around the world via his cherished CB radio at home. Conversations through the airwaves kept his adventurous spirit alive and connected him to a vibrant community, reflecting the friendly and outgoing personality he was so well known for.

John’s love for vehicles was legendary among those who knew him well. He had a particular affection for his red coupe—a gleaming symbol of his passion for cars that he proudly showcased at rod runs in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. His enthusiasm extended beyond cars to motorcycles, where he delighted in bike rides alongside his beloved wife, Shari Davidson. This love of movement and the thrill of the ride paralleled his zest for life.

Outside the realm of vehicles, John embraced the simple, joyful pleasures of dancing, fishing, and bowling. He was once an active member of a bowling league, where his camaraderie and competitive spirit shone brightly. These hobbies were not only pastimes but also avenues through which he cultivated cherished memories with family and friends.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Shari Davidson, and their children: John Jr. (Jay), Frank Davidson, Tammy Davidson-Hunt (and her husband Marc Hunt), and Angela Davidson-McBryde (and her husband Jarrad McBryde). His legacy flourishes through 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, each carrying forward the love and laughter he so freely gave.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Geletta Wills-Davidson and Roy Patton-Davidson, whose memories lived on in his stories and heart. John also faced profound sorrow with the loss of two grandsons, James C. Davidson and Daniel W. Davidson, whose absence is deeply felt within the family.

John Davidson’s life was a symphony of laughter, love, and boundless energy. He was a man who embraced every moment with a smile and a story, a father whose hugs were a sanctuary, and a husband whose partnership with Shari was filled with shared adventures on motorcycles and in life. His passion for connecting with others—whether through a joke, a tale, or a crackling CB radio transmission—remains a testament to the lively spirit he carried until his final days.

As family and friends reflect on John’s remarkable journey, they hold close the memory of a man whose heart was as full as the open road he so dearly loved. Though he has departed, his laughter echoes on, a lasting comfort and the brightest light guiding those who loved him through the days to come.
