Evelin Xaveria Hicks, affectionately known as "Evil," passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, in Knoxville, following a short battle with illness. Born on February 18, 1950, in Germany, Evelin’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, work, and her numerous hobbies.
For an impressive 29 years, Evelin served in various capacities at Waffle House, where she showcased her talents as a cook, server, and manager. Her commitment to her work exemplified her strong work ethic and deep-seated desire to serve others, traits that were loved and admired by her many patrons and colleagues.
Evelin was not only a dedicated professional but also a passionate individual outside of her career. She cherished her time immersed in literature, enjoyed the artistry of woodworking, and found joy in painting. These hobbies were an expression of her creativity and a source of relaxation in her life.
Evelin's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Blackwell; her brother, Donald Conner, and his wife, Pam; her brother, Kenny Brown, and his wife, Ashley; and her beloved grandchildren, Vincent Lee Cook, Kaitlyn Nicole Newhouse, and Ashleyana Nicole Gamble. Each of them will hold dear memories of Evelin, reflecting the love and wisdom she shared with them throughout her life.
Evelin is proceeded in death by her late family members, including her mother, Anna Conner; her father, Wyley Brown; her stepfather, Charles Conner; and her stepmother, Melba Brown. Their memories, along with Evelin’s enduring spirit, will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
As we honor the life of Evelin Xaveria Hicks, we celebrate her remarkable journey, her passion for life, and the cherished bonds she created along the way. Her kind heart and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed.
