Edith Davis, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 9, 1942, in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Throughout her life, Edith embodied devotion, warmth, and an enduring love for her family.
Known lovingly as "Mimi," Edith cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She found immense joy in creating memories with her family, particularly with her granddaughters Tiara Marie Brosan and Heather Barnhart, along with her grandsons Chancery (Jaclene) David Brosan and Tyler Barnes. Her heart also embraced the pets she adored, especially Indy, her favorite cat, and her lifelong companions, the dogs she cared for over the years.
Edith had many passions that brought her happiness. She loved spending time outdoors, tending to her flowers and soaking up the sun at the beach. It was not uncommon to find her outside for hours, reveling in the serene beauty of nature. Her love for family was the centerpiece of her life, and she made it a priority to nurture those relationships.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Dana Marie Brosan and Melanie (Tim) Barnes, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Edith’s legacy also lives on through her beloved grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her father, F.A.W. Davis; her mother, Carrie Belle Huffman Davis; and her son, James David Hendrix. Although she has departed from this world, the love she shared and the lessons she imparted remain woven into the fabric of her family and all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.
